Soniqo vs
Soundtrack Your Brand.

Soundtrack Your Brand is the best of the self-serve category, and we will not pretend otherwise — the catalogue is properly licensed, the scheduler works, and the apps are good. The question for a Gulf operator is narrower than 'which is better'. It is whether a product designed around US and European licensing, sold per zone and curated by algorithm with a playlist editor on top, fits a region with its own royalty regime and a room where the music is part of what the guest is paying for.

Where they win

Self-serve speed, a clean app, and a catalogue licensed out of the box in the markets they were built for. If you want to sign up this afternoon, they are the better product.

Where the fit breaks

Their bundled licences are US and European collecting-society deals. In the UAE and Saudi the local obligation is a separate matter, and it lands on the operator.

The line we draw

One or two zones and a casual concept — take theirs. Multi-zone, premium pricing, and a room that has to feel different at 7pm than at 11pm — take ours.

What you actually buy

Soundtrack Your Brand

A licensed catalogue plus a scheduling app. You assemble playlists from their library, or take one of their pre-built stations, and set them on a clock.

Soniqo

A programmed system. We build the day for your room — the sequence, the energy curve, the transitions — and keep changing it as the room changes.

Licensing in the UAE and Saudi

Soundtrack Your Brand

Their published licensing bundles the rights that apply in their core Western markets. Gulf obligations — including the UAE regime effective 1 December 2026 — are not covered by that bundle and remain the operator's responsibility.

Soniqo

The Gulf regime is the thing we handle. PRO/PPL exposure and the UAE annual venue licence are part of the service, with the paperwork run for you rather than pointed at you.

Who curates

Soundtrack Your Brand

Algorithmic recommendation with a human playlist editor on top. You are the curator; the tool is very good at helping you be one.

Soniqo

We are the curator. A working hospitality DJ builds the programme and answers for it. You approve, veto and request — you do not have to have taste in music at 11pm on a Friday.

Sequencing

Soundtrack Your Brand

Shuffle and crossfade within a playlist. Track order is not designed; the next song is a reasonable neighbour, not a chosen one.

Soniqo

Tracks are ordered by key and energy — the Camelot wheel, the way a DJ builds a set — so a room lifts and settles instead of jumping.

Cost at four zones

Soundtrack Your Brand

Per zone, per month, with no volume break — their published 2026 rates run roughly $29 to $54 a zone depending on tier and billing. Four zones on the top tier is the better part of $2,600 a year before local royalties.

Soniqo

Priced per venue, not per zone. A four-zone property is one programme with four voices, and the licensing sits inside the number.

Changing something

Soundtrack Your Brand

You change it — in the app, yourself, whenever you notice. Which is genuinely fast, provided someone on the team is watching.

Soniqo

You send a message. 'Too loud for brunch', 'the terrace feels flat after nine', 'never this artist again' — and the programme changes, usually same day.

Local behaviour

Soundtrack Your Brand

Generic scheduling by clock. Prayer times, Ramadan hours and sunset are not concepts the product has.

Soniqo

Built in. Prayer-time ducking, Ramadan programming, and a dinner boundary that follows the actual sunset rather than a fixed hour.

Offline resilience

Soundtrack Your Brand

Offline playback is included on their top tier, which covers a dropped connection well.

Soniqo

Same — the player holds the programme locally and keeps going if the line drops. Neither of us leaves you in silence.

Reporting

Soundtrack Your Brand

Play reporting inside the app, aimed at proving licence compliance in their markets.

Soniqo

Play history plus what it means — which hours went flat, what the room actually heard, and what we changed as a result.

Common questionsSoundtrack Your Brand vs Soniqo

Is Soundtrack Your Brand legal in the UAE?

The service itself is legitimate and its catalogue is properly licensed. What their subscription does not do is settle your obligations under the UAE regime that takes effect on 1 December 2026 — that is a licence the venue holds, not something a foreign streaming bundle carries on your behalf. Plenty of Dubai venues run their product and hold the local licence separately; the point is that you have to do the second part.

They are cheaper per month. Why would I pay more?

At one zone they usually are cheaper, and if music is background utility for you, that is the right answer. The gap closes at three or four zones, where their per-zone pricing has no volume break, and it closes completely once you count the local licence and the hours someone on your team spends being the curator.

Can I keep their app and just have you programme it?

Not usefully. Their scheduler plays their catalogue, and the sequencing we do — key and energy ordering, designed transitions — is not something their player can execute. What we can do is take over the whole layer, including the hardware you already have.

What if I want to build playlists myself?

Then theirs is the better tool and we will tell you so. Our clients are mostly operators who do not want to be their own music director. If you enjoy building the room's sound yourself, you should not be paying us to do it.
